Fox Red Lab Names

For years there has always been a fox red Lab in my family, and they have all been named in a similar way. Red Labradors Tess, Daisy and Bonnie were all given pretty traditional human-style names. It’s a classic way to choose your dog’s name, and one that works really well. But it’s not the only method. I am currently planning to bring a new red Lab into my family, and I want to give that puppy a name that’s a bit different!

The most important thing to me is that everyone in my family is happy with the choice, so when I’ve narrowed them down to a shortlist I will put those names on the fridge and let a family member remove a name a day until they have been reduced to the top contender. It’s a nice way to make everyone feel included, but importantly, all the names that make it to that chart will be ones that I like, so there is no way to lose!

Animal Origins

I have met some gorgeous Labradors who were made all the cuter for being named after adorable creatures. I think any of these would be super sweet, and a fun way to nod your head to another amazing member of the animal kingdom too.

Funnily enough, I think bird species work really well as dog names too!

  • Fox
  • Panda
  • Squirrel
  • Bumble
  • Eagle
  • Sparrow
  • Bunny
  • Kite
  • Moth
  • Tiger
  • Mouse
  • Oriole
  • Hawk

Sweet Like Candy

We’ve all met a dog with a candy branded name, and I can’t say that any of the furry friends I’ve made who’ve been named that way didn’t suit them down to the ground. There are also such a fun range of names from the sweet shop that you’re really likely to find one that fits you and your puppy well.

Names Inspired By Nature

I absolutely love a natural name. Although floral names for female dogs are incredibly popular, there are plenty out there that are surprisingly easy to find once you start running through the landscape around you, and yet that will give your dog a unique edge. Just wandering into the territory of trees instead of flowers opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

  • River
  • Pansy
  • Poplar
  • Valley
  • Laurel
  • Ren
  • Lily
  • Oak
  • Fern
  • Clover
  • Forest
  • Spruce
  • Aster

Cool Names

We all have our own idea of what is cool, and it’s largely based on our teen years and the hobbies and interests that we hold dear. But these names would be pretty awesome for almost any style of person, and just have a nice, yet fairly generically high level of cool to them.

  • Rocky
  • Tank
  • Jet
  • Rebel
  • Piper
  • Boss
  • Flint
  • Trigger
  • Storm
  • Archer
  • Trixie
  • Quinn
  • Tanner
  • Phantom
  • Arrow
  • Flash
  • Crash
  • Slate
  • Neo
  • Dexter

Mythological Names

I absolutely love names that are inspired by myths, particularly from Greek or Norse mythology. These are some of my favorite names, that also give an extra level of fun to your dog’s identity.

  • Athos
  • Thor
  • Freya
  • Luna
  • Apolo
  • Hector
  • Ares
  • Gaia
  • Irene
  • Achilles
  • Zeus
  • Hera
  • Athena

Remember, although this choice is an important one it should still be fun. Don’t get bogged down in ideas that don’t speak to you, throw a load of them at the wall and see which ones stick. It will come together eventually, and the more you think outside the box the easier it can get.
